Here, left is my dear friend Ellie Schwartz--fine musician and songwriter, participant in several musical groups, concert organizer, and one of those friends you can really count on. Long and tall and redheaded...and obviously in a glamour mode here! On the right is the genial and multi-talented Pete Scalzo. Pete is the kind of musician who can "deliver the mail". One year he played on very short notice with Jan Milner and me at the Florida Folk Festival. | ![]() |
| Pete walked out on the main stage with us, and with just about no rehearsal at all played the nicest bass you ever heard in your life behind everything we did. We especially appreciated it, because Vassar Clements and his entourage came to listen to us. Pete's a good 'un...and he's a person who really knows how to be a friend, as well. | ||
| Southwind, a longtime Florida group, participated in the Skipper's Adam Morris benefit also, along with others not yet shown on this page. More pictures will be posted as time permits. Here's the band: Dennis Devine, Sharon Naumann, Mary Ann DiNella, Sandy Jemison, left to right! | ![]() |

Here are the Crabgrass Cowboys (Lloyd "Thumper", Patty, and Happy McKenzie, left to right), in full regalia, performing at the 2001 Florida Folk Festival. These folks really know how to put on a show! Lookin' mighty fine! Thanks to the Florida Division of Historical Resources for the original of this shot. |
| Along with Doug Travers, Ellie Schwartz, the groom, and others, I played some music June 3, 2001 at the wedding of this happy couple, Rob and Elonna Jandro. They tied the knot at Boyd Hill Nature Park, near where we have the music camp, in a beautiful little natural spot. Both of them are music folks! Good luck and much happiness to them! | ![]() |

| Above are a couple of music camp pictures. On the left is one of the jam sessions that often fill the Central Hall--and last until the wee hours. Playing bass in this shot is Rima Olson. Looks like she is about sixteen or seventeen years old here, having a great time with the bass. This is how I like to think of Rima. On the right is Robin Plitt helping a group of folks in the Tutoring Area of the camp. This picture was probably taken in 1999. You'll find good cheer and good help in the Tutoring Area! | |

On very short notice she did a really nice job on my (Charley Groth's) main stage set at the FFF on Friday. Sang fine harmony too! Thanks Sandy! Below, an old pro, the noted songwriter Jak Kelly, at the Florida Folk Festival.

Here's a nice shot of the group Jazzmin, from central Florida, performing at the Florida Folk Festival. George Berry, left, plays bass; Kathy Ivers plays guitar and sings; Eddie Kavetsky plays guitar. There's a guest fiddler on this set: the famous Vassar Clements! Jazzmin does (and does very well) the great classic swing and jazz material. They can be reached through a link to their web site that is included in the E-mail/Links Section of this site. |
| On the right is Lynn Wadley, of Jacksonville, Florida, wonderful friend and gifted songwriter. Her songs are absolutely first-rate, and the several albums of them she's released make very good listening! Contact me if you're interested in Lynn's albums! (Don't miss the one that includes Lynn's song The Shoe, a really great piece of songwriting.) | ![]() |
| ...I grew up with all the advantages, in a splendid upper-middle class home in the beautiful suburbs of a prosperous city... You're looking at part of it, below. If I act a little hardboiled sometimes, it is worth knowing that it hasn't been a real easy trip--though I've enjoyed a lot of it and, in the words of my song, I would do it all again.
